Discoverers' Club

Think! Active! Play! Do! Discoverers' Club provides regular activities on Sunday afternoons, and other arranged times, including the school holidays. These are advertised to members in our newsletter and on our website in the our Members Section. Bookings for these activities can be made online or by contacting the Discoverers' Club contact person.

Activities have included an electrical demolition day, visit to the SPCA, making a music cd, a music jam session, surfing lessons, orienteering in Hagley Park, a visit to a music production studio and a visit to Dynamic Controls Ltd.

The Annual Family Camp is also very popular! An enthusiastic Camp Committee pinpoint a Camp theme which is selected to excite children's interest, and develop a great range of activities designed to entertain and inform. Camp facilities provide ample opportunities for energetic activities. This takes place over Canterbury Show weekend.

Discoverers' Club provides an excellent opportunity for children and young adults with like minds to enjoy social and intellectual interaction and exploration with other children of similar abilities. Creating an environment where children and young adults can make these kinds of connections is very important for the development of their social and emotional wellbeing.

The club is open to children and youth who have either been assessed as intellectually gifted by a registered educational psychologist, currently working in the field of giftedness, or satisfied the Acceptance Criteria of the Management Committee as defined in our constitution.
